In a candid discussion, former Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba spoke highly of one-time teammate Ravel Morrison, highlighting his immense talent and unrealized potential. Pogba, who had a mixed second spell at Manchester United, expressed admiration for Morrison during an interview, positioning him as a standout player of their cohort.

Pogba, whose career at United saw successes such as winning the Europa League and League Cup in 2017, described Morrison as “the best player of my generation that I have seen,” even comparing his skills to those of Neymar during his early days at Santos. Pogba stated, “I saw stuff Neymar was doing at Santos – Ravel was doing that.”

Despite this high praise and the expectations set by peers and coaches, Morrison never fully realized his potential. Paul Pogba acknowledged this, noting that although they remain friends, Morrison’s career choices may not have been optimal. “I don’t want to say I feel sorry for his career because you always want to see someone with big talent do good,” Pogba commented. “He realizes if he had a chance to do it again he would do it differently.”

Morrison’s career path has been far from straightforward, having played in teams across England, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, the USA, Mexico, and recently, the United Arab Emirates. This nomadic career has seen him struggle to find long-term success or stability in any single club.

Former Manchester United star Rio Ferdinand has also shared his perspective on Morrison, recalling Sir Alex Ferguson’s high expectations for the young player. According to Ferdinand, Ferguson once told him, “Look at this kid, he’s better than you, Rooney when you were a kid, better than Ryan Giggs when you were kids. This is the best kid you will ever see.”

The latest developments in Morrison’s career have seen him searching for a new club after his contract with the MLS team DC United lapsed. Notably, Morrison’s intended new direction in football remains to be seen, as speculation surrounds his next move.

As Pogba continues his career post-Manchester United, having played in Serie A and the Premier League and winning the World Cup with France, memories of his time alongside Morrison linger. “He was one of the guys who sent me a message when he saw the news, he was so happy for me,” Pogba said, reaffirming the lasting bond between the two former teammates.
