Penguins Face Wild Amid Struggles in Sunday Showdown

SAINT PAUL, Minn. — The Pittsburgh Penguins will face off against the Minnesota Wild on Sunday, March 9, 2025, at Xcel Energy Center at 3:30 p.m. ET, looking to break a four-game losing streak.
The Penguins, with a current record of 24-31-10, are struggling in the Metropolitan Division, having won only 10 of their road games this season. Pittsburgh has allowed 236 goals while scoring just 183, resulting in a significant -53 scoring differential.
The Minnesota Wild, on the other hand, hold a 36-23-4 record and aim to strengthen their position in the Central Division. They have performed well at home, recording a 14-13-1 record and a strong 12-5-2 mark in one-goal games.
In their previous matchup this season, Minnesota defeated Pittsburgh 5-3, thanks in part to Frederick Gaudreau, who scored two goals in that game. Gaudreau has continued to produce, recently recording four goals and two assists in the last ten games.
TOP PERFORMERS: For Minnesota, Matthew Boldy leads with 21 goals and 33 assists. The Wild are averaging 2.3 goals and 3.8 assists over their last ten games.
In comparison, the Penguins have averaged 2.5 goals and 4.8 assists in their last ten games but have struggled defensively, giving up an average of 4.1 goals during that stretch.
“They need to find their rhythm. It’s time to step up,” Penguins’ coach Mike Sullivan said, acknowledging the need for his team to turn things around.
