Penn State Hosts Harvard in Men’s Basketball Showdown
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pennsylvania – The Penn State Nittany Lions are set to face the Harvard Crimson on Wednesday evening. The Lions, boasting a 4-0 record, aim to maintain their unbeaten streak in a nonconference matchup at the Bryce Jordan Center, beginning at 6:30 p.m. ET.
Under the direction of head coach Mike Rhoades, the young Nittany Lions are showing promise this season. Freshman Kayden Mingo is leading the team with an average of 15.3 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. Fellow freshman guard Melih Tunca is contributing strongly as well, averaging 15.5 points and 2.5 rebounds.
Harvard, coached by Tommy Amaker in his 19th season, enters the game with a 4-1 record. The Crimson are led by Chandler Pigge, who is averaging 15.8 points per game, and Tey Barbour, who leads the team with 5.4 rebounds per game. Harvard’s only loss this season was against Northeastern.
This matchup marks the first meeting between the two teams in Happy Valley, though they last faced each other in 1976, with Penn State winning that game 63-55 on a neutral court. Their only other encounter was in 1938.
The game will stream on B1G+, the official platform of the Big Ten, requiring a subscription to access. Michael Stoty will handle play-by-play duties while Michael Landis provides commentary, with Michela Barbanente reporting from the sideline.
Fans can expect an exciting showdown as both teams look to solidify their early season success. Penn State hopes to continue improving after a shaky opener against Fairfield.
