Penn State Lands Cornerback Jaziel Hart in 2026 Recruiting Class

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — Penn State University has secured its 17th commitment for the 2026 recruiting class with the addition of standout cornerback Jaziel Hart from North Cross High School in Roanoke, Virginia. Hart announced his decision on Thursday, choosing the Nittany Lions over offers from schools including Michigan, Notre Dame, Tennessee, and Virginia Tech.
At 5 feet 11 inches and 170 pounds, Hart is ranked as the No. 65 cornerback nationally by 247Sports and is considered the 17th best prospect in Virginia. His commitment strengthens Penn State’s recruiting efforts, which have garnered 10 new commitments since March 25, pushing the Nittany Lions into the fourth spot nationally, overtaking Clemson.
Hart’s journey to Penn State began last summer when he received a scholarship offer after a strong performance at the Elite Showcase prospect camp. Penn State cornerbacks coach has played a critical role in Hart’s recruiting process, building a close relationship with him during several unofficial visits to State College.
“The thing that hit me with them is that relationship with the coaches. It’s true. It’s real. It’s great,” Hart told Brian Dohn of 247Sports.
Last season, Hart made a significant impact as a two-way player, catching 24 passes for 521 yards and six touchdowns, while rushing for another five touchdowns on 38 carries. Additionally, he showcased his defensive skills with four interceptions and 23 tackles.
His performance has earned him the nickname “ball hawk” for his impressive 14 interceptions over three high school seasons. Evaluators noted that Hart has displayed high-level traits in footwork and technique as a cover cornerback, along with being a willing tackler who does not shy away from contact.
Now, with Hart on board, Penn State adds to its roster of recruits that already includes New Jersey prospect Julian Peterson at the cornerback position. The Nittany Lions remain active as they seek to build a strong class for the future with several other highly ranked prospects still in consideration.
