Nazareth Area Quarterback Commitment Auburn

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — Top247 Nazareth (Pa.) Area quarterback Cole Falzone has flipped his commitment from Penn State to Auburn, losing a valued member of the 2026 recruiting class. Falzone announced his decision on Thursday afternoon.

Falzone had been committed to the Nittany Lions since April 12, shortly after receiving an offer from head coach James Franklin. He expressed excitement about his new choice, stating, “Auburn is a place full of tradition. My family and I have spent a lot of time discussing the school and its blend of elite football and high-level academics. It has it all. I’m blessed to be able to play at a school with a strong tradition of faith and family running throughout the university and the community. All of that is very important to us. I can’t wait to be there. War Eagle.”

Initially committed to Virginia Tech before his Penn State decision, Falzone became a frequent visitor to Happy Valley. He attended numerous Elite Showcase prospect camps and participated in the recent White Out camp to work on his skills with Penn State’s quarterbacks coach.

With impressive stats over the last two seasons, Falzone threw for 4,663 yards and 42 touchdowns against eight interceptions, while also rushing for 1,137 yards and 19 touchdowns. His ranking by 247Sports places him as the No. 183 overall recruit, No. 11 quarterback, and No. 4 player from Pennsylvania.

Andrew Ivins, the director of scouting for 247Sports, noted Falzone’s potential, saying he has “the characteristics required to do damage in a modern spread attack.” Ivins highlighted Falzone’s multi-sport background and his development as a passer over the past year.

As of now, Falzone is the only quarterback in Penn State’s 2026 recruiting class, which is currently ranked ninth nationally. Auburn has been quick to secure him after offering earlier this month, with head coach Hugh Freeze and quarterbacks coaches Kent Austin and Jesse Stone successfully adding him to their roster.

Falzone’s decision marks a significant shift in the recruiting landscape for both programs.
