Yanic Konan Niederhauser Nba Draft

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Yanic Konan Niederhauser, a towering 7-footer from Penn State, was selected by the Los Angeles Clippers as the 30th pick in the 2025 NBA Draft on Wednesday evening. This selection marks a significant milestone, making Niederhauser the highest pick in Penn State basketball history, surpassing Jalen Pickett’s previous record of 32nd in 2023.

After a rapid ascent that began with his transfer from Northern Illinois last offseason, Niederhauser declared for the NBA Draft while keeping his college eligibility. He impressed scouts during individual workouts and made a statement at the NBA G League Elite Camp and the NBA Draft Combine in Chicago in May.

Penn State head coach Mike Rhoades expressed pride in Niederhauser’s journey. “Yanic took advantage of the opportunities he had here in the last few weeks to get closer to his dream sooner than we all maybe thought. I’m super excited for him,” Rhoades said.

Last season, Niederhauser averaged 16.4 points over his final five games, playing 32.2 minutes per game and showcasing the potential that Penn State’s coaching staff always believed he had. During the NBA Draft Combine, he stood out with top marks in vertical leaps and speed tests, reinforcing his status as an elite athlete.

“His unique athleticism and ability to finish are key attributes,” Rhoades said. However, he noted that Niederhauser needs to polish his fundamentals to fully harness his potential. The excitement surrounding Niederhauser reflects the high hopes for his future in the NBA.
