Penn State York Basketball Secures Playoff Spots With Dominant Wins Over Penn State Scranton

In a commanding display of skill and determination, both the men’s and women’s basketball teams at Penn State York secured their spots in the playoffs by sweeping Penn State Scranton on Tuesday, Feb. 20, in the PSUAC. The women’s team left no room for doubt with a resounding 97-37 victory, while the men’s team triumphed with a score of 92-56.

The women’s team solidified their position as the No. 2 seed in the PSUAC East, while the men’s team clinched the coveted No. 1 seed, setting the stage for an exciting playoff run.

Adding to the excitement of the game on Feb. 20, Jayda Simmons, a talented student and volleyball player at Penn State York, participated in a thrilling half-court shot competition for a chance to win a 65-inch television. In a moment of sheer skill and precision, Simmons became the 13th contestant to make the shot, much to the delight of the crowd.

As a result of their impressive performance, Penn State York will be hosting the first round of the PSUAC Quarterfinals on Monday, Feb. 26, at the Joe and Rosie Ruhl Student Community Center on campus. The women’s team is set to face off against the No. 3 seed, Penn State Brandywine, in what promises to be a thrilling matchup.

Prior to the quarterfinals, the women’s team will also take on Penn State Brandywine on Friday, Feb. 23, at 6:15 p.m. in their final regular season game. Meanwhile, the men’s team will square off against Penn State Brandywine at 8:15 p.m. on the same day, with their quarterfinal opponent yet to be determined pending the results of the Feb. 23 game, which will determine the third and fourth seeds in the division.

During the home game on Feb. 23, Penn State York will take the opportunity to honor the seniors on both the men’s and women’s teams, celebrating their contributions and dedication to the program.
