PGA Championship Announces Record $19 Million Purse for 2025

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina — Officials from the PGA of America announced Saturday the full prize money for the 107th PGA Championship, set to take place this weekend at Quail Hollow. The total purse will be $19 million, with the winner receiving $3.42 million.
This purse marks an increase of $500,000 compared to the previous year, when Xander Schauffele took home $3.33 million for his victory. The 2025 runner-up will receive $2.052 million, while the third-place finisher is slated to earn $1.292 million.
Jhonattan Vegas currently leads the tournament after two rounds, holding a two-shot advantage over the competitors. Scottie Scheffler sits three strokes behind, expressing optimism about his position going into the weekend. “I like the position I’m in going into the weekend,” Scheffler stated. “Obviously, I wish I was a little bit further up the leaderboard. I think I got a lot out of my game the last couple days.”
Players in the tournament will compete not only for the monetary rewards but also for the prestigious Wanamaker Trophy, which goes to the champion. The 2024 tournament featured an $18.5 million purse, making this year’s increase notable as the trend of escalating prize money continues.
A full scale of the payout includes compensation for those who did not make the cut, with all participants assured a minimum of $4,000. The rise in overall prize wallets reflects an ongoing competitive landscape, as both PGA Tour events and LIV Golf League tournaments feature significant financial incentives.
As the tournament unfolds, spectators are eager to see if Vegas can maintain his lead or if Scheffler will push for his third major victory amid the intense competition and sizable financial stakes.
