The Philadelphia Eagles secured a 26-18 victory over the Washington Commanders on Thursday night, improving their season record to 8-2 and solidifying their position as leaders in the NFC East. However, the win was marred by the uncharacteristic struggles of kicker Jake Elliott. Elliott, who is usually reliable, missed two field goals and an extra point during the game.

Elliott’s performance was a notable deviation from his typical form. Last season, he had a remarkable 93.8% success rate on field goals, converting 30 out of 32 attempts. Despite this recent setback, Elliott has spoken out about his tough night and his plans to bounce back. He emphasized the importance of moving forward and learning from his mistakes.

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni was quick to offer his support for Elliott. Sirianni praised Elliott’s clutch performances throughout his career and expressed the team’s continued faith in him. “He’s been so clutch his entire career and the entire time I’ve been here,” Sirianni said. “We believe in you, you’re gonna have to make a kick to help us win this football game. And he did that got us up 16 points and eight points or whatever it was. We have so much faith in him.

The Eagles have reaffirmed their commitment to keeping Elliott as their kicker, despite his recent struggles. With over a week before their next game against the Los Angeles Rams, Elliott will have time to address his kicking issues and prepare for the upcoming challenge.
