Phillies Edge Marlins in Thrilling 11-10 Comeback Win

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — The Philadelphia Phillies triumphed over the Miami Marlins 11-10 in a dramatic game at Citizens Bank Park on Saturday afternoon, overcoming a six-run deficit in the ninth inning to claim victory.
Reliever Matt Strahm picked up the win, while Jose Alvarado secured his fifth save of the season. On offense, Trea Turner shined with a 4-for-5 performance, and teammates Bryson Stott, Max Kepler, J.T. Realmuto, Alec Bohm, and Johan Rojas contributed with multiple hits as well.
The excitement in the ballpark was palpable as fans flocked to see the game, with an attendance of 45,045— the highest since Opening Day in 2017. Todd Zolecki of MLB.com highlighted the significant turnout, noting that the previous night’s crowd was also impressive at 44,949, marking two of the most attended regular-season games for the Phillies in recent memory.
“Philly’s got Marlins fever,” said Zolecki. The Phillies improved their season record to 13-8, placing them second in the National League East, while the Marlins fell to 8-12, positioned third in the division competition.
The highly competitive division race is expected to intensify throughout the season, especially as both the New York Mets and the Phillies aim to oust the Los Angeles Dodgers and vie for the World Series title. The Phillies last claimed the crown in 2008, although they reached the World Series in 2022.
Fans will have another opportunity to see the two teams match up again on Easter Sunday, with the game scheduled for 1:35 p.m. ET. Miami will send Connor Gillispie, who is 0-2 this season with a 6.63 ERA, to the mound, while Philadelphia’s Jesus Luzardo, boasting a 2-0 record and a 2.31 ERA, will take the hill. Luzardo was acquired in a trade from Miami during the offseason.
In roster news, Marlins player Jazz Chisholm Jr. has been suspended for one game due to a violation of the league’s social media policy. Meanwhile, discussions regarding a contract extension for the Cubs and player Kyle Tucker have reportedly not commenced.
Additionally, a curious scenario awaits fans in 2025 as the Tampa Bay Rays are expected to play outdoors against the New York Yankees at Steinbrenner Field, a sight many find unusual.
