Phoenix Faces Extreme Heat and Storms Ahead

PHOENIX, Arizona — The Valley is experiencing extreme heat today, with an Extreme Heat Warning in effect until 8 p.m. This heat is accompanied by poor air quality, prompting local officials to issue a High Pollution Advisory. Another advisory for high pollution has already been issued for Wednesday.
Monsoon moisture is expected to increase storm chances across Arizona, particularly in the Valley. The most significant storm chances are forecasted for Wednesday afternoon and evening, bringing risks of lightning, heavy rain, strong winds, and dust storms. Residents are advised to remain vigilant and take precautions during these storms.
Due to dust lingering in the air, a High Pollution Advisory has been activated for Wednesday. Additionally, Flood Watches are in place for much of southern Arizona, including parts of Pinal County and Pima County. Travelers in these areas should avoid flooded roadways and adhere to the “Turn around, Don’t drown” safety message.
The potential for wildfires sparked by lightning is also heightened across Arizona in the coming days. Residents are urged to stay safe and monitor local updates regarding the evolving weather situation.
As we approach the Fourth of July holiday, storm chances are expected to decrease, with a clear outlook for the Valley by Saturday and Sunday.
