Phoenix Suns Foiled in Attempt to Acquire Miles Bridges at NBA Trade Deadline
The Phoenix Suns had their sights set on acquiring Miles Bridges from the Charlotte Hornets during the NBA trade deadline, but their plans were foiled. Bridges, a versatile wing player, will be staying with the Hornets, as his agent Rich Paul confirmed. This news comes as a relief for the Suns, as Bridges has had legal troubles in the past, including violating his parole related to a domestic violence case. Additionally, acquiring Bridges would have been a risky move for the Suns, as he is only on a qualifying offer and would not be able to be re-signed beyond this year due to his contract status.
On the court, Bridges has been performing well, averaging 21.9 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game this season. His shooting percentages of 46% overall and 37% from three-point range make him an attractive asset. However, the Suns will have to look elsewhere to improve their roster.
Meanwhile, the Washington Wizards have traded center Daniel Gafford to the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for Richaun Holmes and future draft assets. This move will pair Gafford with Mavericks star Luka Doncic, forming a formidable pick-and-roll duo.
The Oklahoma City Thunder have also made a trade, sending Tre Mann and Davis Bertans to the Hornets in exchange for wing player Gordon Hayward. Hayward will provide stability and experience to the Thunder’s young roster, which lacks playoff experience.
The New York Knicks, although unable to acquire a star player, have made a significant roster upgrade by adding Bojan Bogdanovic. In a multi-player deal with the Utah Jazz, the Knicks sent Quentin Grimes, Malachi Flynn, Evan Fournier, Ryan Arcidiacono, and two second-round picks in exchange for Bogdanovic.
Lastly, the Philadelphia 76ers have acquired Buddy Hield from the Sacramento Kings. Hield’s offensive capabilities will help bolster the 76ers’ scoring options while they await the return of injured star Joel Embiid.
