Phoenix Suns Sign Jamaree Bouyea to Two-Way Contract
PHOENIX, Arizona – The Phoenix Suns announced today that they have signed guard Jamaree Bouyea to a two-way contract. The move, confirmed by ESPN’s Shams Charania, comes as the Suns look to bolster their guard depth amid injury concerns.
Bouyea, 26, who went undrafted in the 2022 NBA Draft, has played for multiple NBA teams, including the Miami Heat, Washington Wizards, Portland Trail Blazers, San Antonio Spurs, and most recently, the Milwaukee Bucks. He averaged 20 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 4.5 assists during his short stint with the Austin Spurs in the G League this season.
Despite the signing, the Suns faced a roster challenge, as they were already at the maximum for two-way players. In a corresponding move, they waived guard CJ Huntley, who may rejoin the Valley Suns if he passes through waivers.
The addition of Bouyea comes at a crucial time for the Suns. Starting guards Jalen Green and Grayson Allen are currently battling injuries, with Green expected to be out for 3-5 weeks and Allen listed as day-to-day with a quad contusion.
Coach Jordan Ott emphasized the importance of depth during the team’s recent loss against the Atlanta Hawks, where they allowed 47 points in the fourth quarter. Ott noted, “These games are so emotional… obviously, something that comes down to shot-making.”
Bouyea’s G League performance has shown promise, especially with his improved 3-point shooting at 35%. His ability to create his own shots could be valuable for the Suns as they navigate the challenges of the current season.
As the Suns aim to build on their current 8-6 record, they will look to Bouyea to make an immediate impact. Their next matchup is against the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday night.
