Pistons Extend Winning Streak with 106-97 Win Over Clippers

DETROIT (AP) — Cade Cunningham led the Detroit Pistons with 32 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists in a 106-97 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers on February 24, 2025. This win marks the Pistons’ seventh consecutive victory and halts a 10-game losing streak against the Clippers.
The Pistons improved to 32-26, their best record at this phase of the season since 2007-08, when they last won a playoff game. Jalen Duren also made a significant impact with 12 points and 19 rebounds, while Tobias Harris contributed 20 points.
“It feels good to finally turn things around against a team that has given us trouble for years,” Cunningham said following the game. “We’ve been working hard, and it’s great to see it paying off.”
The Pistons controlled the game after a tight third quarter where they led 77-75 with 1:50 remaining. They finished the quarter strong, outscoring the Clippers 8-0 to take an 85-75 lead into the final period. During that stretch, Clippers struggled offensively, missing all attempts and committing a turnover.
On the opposing side, James Harden led the Clippers with 18 points and 12 rebounds, while Ivica Zubac added 13 points and 16 rebounds. The Clippers fell to 31-26, playing without Ben Simmons, who was rested due to a knee injury he had been managing.
“We have to learn from this,” Clippers coach Tyronn Lue said. “We didn’t execute well, and it showed in the end. We were hoping for a better performance.”
Detroit’s victory comes after a thrilling win against the Atlanta Hawks, where they scored 148 points just a day prior, showcasing their scoring prowess. However, they started the game looking for a solid performance against the Clippers.
Detroit’s resilience was evident as they built a lead and maintained their composure when challenged. Reserve forward Simone Fontecchio missed the game due to a hand injury he sustained in the previous matchup.
The Pistons will next face the Boston Celtics at home on Wednesday, while the Clippers head to Chicago to take on the Bulls.
