Detroit Pistons Tim Hardaway Jr. Game Action

The Detroit Pistons will face the Toronto Raptors on Saturday night at Little Caesars Arena, but they will be shorthanded as two key players, Jaden Ivey and Tim Hardaway Jr., remain sidelined due to injuries. Ivey is recovering from surgery for a left fibula fracture, while Hardaway Jr. is questionable with lower-back spasms.

Ivey, a rising star for the Pistons, suffered the injury during a game against the Orlando Magic on New Year’s Day. He was having a career-best season, averaging 22 points, four assists, and shooting 46 percent from the field before the injury. His absence is a significant blow to the team, as he had been a key contributor in their lineup.

Hardaway Jr., acquired in a trade with the Dallas Mavericks, has been a reliable role player for the Pistons this season. However, his recent back issues have limited his availability. Over the past 22 games, he has averaged nine points, two rebounds, and one assist per game. His shooting percentages have dipped to 40 percent from the field and 31 percent from three-point range during this stretch.

The Pistons traded Quentin Grimes to acquire Hardaway Jr. and several second-round picks. Grimes, who struggled in Detroit, has since found a better fit with his new team. Meanwhile, Hardaway Jr. has provided veteran leadership and shooting for the Pistons, who are looking to build around young star Cade Cunningham.

Detroit’s injury woes come at a challenging time as they prepare to face the Raptors, who are also struggling this season. The Pistons will need to rely on their depth and young talent to compete in Ivey and Hardaway Jr.’s absence. The team has not yet announced a timeline for Ivey’s return, leaving his status for the remainder of the season uncertain.

Fans will be watching closely to see how the Pistons adjust their lineup and whether Hardaway Jr. can return to the court soon. The game tips off at 7 p.m. ET on Saturday night.
