Pitt Women’s Volleyball Advances in NCAA Tournament, Hosts Regional Semifinals
The University of Pittsburgh women’s volleyball team is making significant strides in the 2024 NCAA Division I women’s volleyball tournament. After a successful win over Oklahoma, the Panthers are set to host three matches at the Petersen Events Center for the second weekend of the tournament.
Pitt, currently ranked as the No. 1 seed, is scheduled to face No. 4 Oregon in the regional semifinals. This match is part of the tournament’s third and fourth rounds and will be televised on ESPN2, starting at 3:30 PM ET on December 12. The winner of this match will advance to the Elite Eight.
This marks Pitt’s fifth consecutive appearance in the Sweet Sixteen, and the team is aiming for its fifth straight Elite Eight appearance. The Panthers had previously defeated Oregon 3-0 in their season opener in August, setting a strong precedent for their upcoming match.
The 2024 NCAA DI women’s volleyball championship will culminate with the national semifinals on December 19 and the title match on December 22, both of which will be hosted at the KFC Yum Center in Louisville, Kentucky.
