Pittsburgh Steelers DL Cam Heyward Wins NFL’s Walter Payton Man of the Year Award
Pittsburgh Steelers defensive lineman Cam Heyward was honored with the prestigious NFL‘s Walter Payton Man of the Year award on Thursday evening at a star-studded event.
The award ceremony saw the gracious introduction of Heyward by none other than Prince Harry, adding to the grandeur of the occasion.
Expressing his surprise and gratitude, Heyward exclaimed, “Prince freakin’ Harry,” upon the royal introduction.
This remarkable achievement marks the sixth time the Steelers have nominated Heyward for this esteemed recognition, underscoring his profound impact both on and off the field.
Heyward’s philanthropic efforts are channeled through the Heyward House Foundation, which spearheads various initiatives in the Pittsburgh area, embodying the spirit of the award.
In his acceptance speech, an emotional Heyward extended his heartfelt thanks to the Pittsburgh Steelers for affording him this esteemed opportunity, and paid tribute to his coach, Mike T (Tomlin), emphasizing the profound influence Tomlin has had on his career.
Heyward also expressed his deep appreciation for his teammates, acknowledging the camaraderie and support within the Steelers’ organization that has propelled him to success.
The Heyward House Foundation not only reflects Cam Heyward’s commitment to community service but also serves as a poignant tribute to his late father, Craig “Ironhead” Heyward, a revered NFL fullback who tragically passed away in 2006 from brain cancer at the age of 39.
