Pizza Hut Celebrates 35th Anniversary with Youth Basketball League Support
Pizza Hut is marking its 35th anniversary by partnering with the Spurs Youth Basketball League (SYBL) to benefit Central and South Texas youth. From January 6 to February 9, 2025, the company will donate a portion of proceeds from every large one-topping stuffed crust pizza sold in the San Antonio area to support the league’s mission.
The SYBL, founded in 1990 by San Antonio Spurs Head Coach Gregg Popovich and Kids Sports Network president Frank Martin, has provided basketball programs and safe spaces for young athletes across the region. Over the past 35 years, the league has impacted 463,000 young athletes and coaches, fostering skills in basketball, teamwork, respect, and discipline.
Usman Dhanani, President of Ayvaz Pizza, which operates Pizza Hut locations in the area, expressed pride in the partnership. “Pizza Hut continues to be proud to partner with the Spurs on giving back to the San Antonio youth,” Dhanani said. “The Spurs Youth Basketball League, presented by Pizza Hut, supports young people by inspiring and motivating them to reach for their dreams.”
This season, Spurs rookie Stephon Castle has been named SYBL commissioner, a role selected by Coach Popovich. Castle shared his enthusiasm for the position, stating, “I’m humbled to be selected as the SYBL Commissioner, especially in this special anniversary season. SYBL has done incredibly impactful work in our San Antonio community over the last 35 years, so it’s an honor for me to join that legacy.”
Pizza Hut has been a proud sponsor of SYBL since its inception, aligning with the league’s commitment to youth development and community engagement. Fans can participate in the initiative by ordering pizzas at local Pizza Hut locations or online, contributing to the league’s ongoing success.
