Fc Porto Luna Esports Partnership

The renowned Portuguese football club, FC Porto, has announced a strategic partnership with Luna eSports, the gaming organization owned by international football player Diogo Jota. This collaboration is set to expand FC Porto’s competitive presence in the eSports domain, merging their existing team with the expertise of Luna eSports.

Since its inception into the eSports world in 2020, FC Porto has won multiple accolades, including two Taças de Portugal de Futebol Virtual FPF and several eLiga Portugal titles. With the formation of this partnership, the club aims to fortify its achievements in virtual football.

Luna eSports, established in 2021, has made waves in the eSports scene with national titles, a championship in the North American eMLS league, and a victory at the Esports World Cup. The partnership rekindles FC Porto’s connection with Diogo Jota, who played for the club during the 2016/17 season on loan from Atlético Madrid.

Tiago Gouveia, the FC Porto Marketing Director, remarked, “The FC Porto has a rich and successful history in eSports. We believe this new partnership will allow us to grow further and cement our position both nationally and internationally in this rapidly developing area. The eSports market is crucial for expanding our brand among a specific audience, many of whom are our supporters.”

Diogo Jota, currently playing with Liverpool FC and owner of Luna Galaxy, expressed his enthusiasm: “It is an honor to integrate Luna Galaxy with a club like FC Porto, which I represented as an athlete. This was the right step for our project as it aligns us with a club known globally for its winning spirit, an ambition we have shared from the start.”

The merger marks the official introduction of new team members for FC Porto’s eSports lineup, which continues with Raquel “Raquel_Ty” Martinho. The team also welcomes Bruno “Insert” Gonçalves, a notable coach in the national scene, and players Pedro “Peter16” Gonçalves and Diogo “diogo_silva33” Silva. These additions aim to enhance the club’s competitive edge in the EA Sports FC 25 series.

The collaboration not only strengthens FC Porto’s gaming team but also brings new opportunities for involvement in evolving eSports initiatives, aiming to captivate a growing audience within the gaming community.
