Premier League Clubs Monitoring Newcastle Striker Callum Wilson
Premier League clubs, including Chelsea and West Ham, are closely monitoring Newcastle striker Callum Wilson. Talks between the clubs and the player’s representatives have yet to develop, but there is growing interest in securing his services.
Wilson’s contract at Newcastle is set to expire in 2025, and with the club needing to raise funds to comply with Premier League profit and sustainability rules, they may be open to selling the striker for a reported £18 million.
The 29-year-old forward, who joined Newcastle in 2020 after a successful spell at Bournemouth, has scored 46 goals in 102 appearances for the Magpies. However, he has also faced several injury setbacks this season, including a recent calf problem that has kept him sidelined for the past few matches.
Both Chelsea and West Ham have been hit by injury troubles in their attacking options, making Wilson an attractive prospect. West Ham, in particular, have been left short of choices up front with injuries to Jarrod Bowen, Lucas Paqueta, Mohammed Kudus, and Michail Antonio.
Chelsea, on the other hand, have also struggled with injuries this season, including their forward Victor Osimhen, who missed the first half of the 2023-24 campaign.
While Wilson could offer a short-term solution for both clubs, Chelsea is reportedly also considering a permanent deal for the striker in the summer, as they aim to bolster their attacking firepower.
Meanwhile, Real Betis has continued to express interest in West Ham midfielder Pablo Fornals, whose contract is set to expire later this summer. Real Betis has reportedly asked for Fornals on loan, as the 27-year-old has seen limited playing time under David Moyes this season.
The future of Callum Wilson remains uncertain as Premier League clubs closely monitor his situation at Newcastle. With his contract set to expire and the need for funds, Newcastle may be open to offers for the prolific striker, with Chelsea and West Ham among the interested parties.
Mauricio Pochettino‘s side, Paris Saint-Germain, is also considering a short-term deal for Wilson but has expressed a preference for signing Victor Osimhen in the summer.
