Prince Harry to Honor Aerial Firefighters at Living Legends Ceremony

Beverly Hills, CA — The Duke of Sussex will attend the 22nd annual Living Legends of Aviation ceremony on April 25 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Hosting the event is actor John Travolta, who previously honored Harry at last year’s ceremony.
Harry, a veteran helicopter pilot honored as a Living Legend, will celebrate aerial firefighters who fought the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles earlier this year. He and his wife, Meghan Markle, are noted for their contributions to relief efforts in January.
During his military service with the British Army, Prince Harry trained in the U.S., U.K., and Australia. He completed the Army Pilot Course in 2010 and flew missions in Afghanistan. His father, King Charles, awarded him his flying wings.
This year’s event will induct new honorees including Christopher Cassidy, a former Navy SEAL and NASA astronaut, and Robert “Hoot” Gibson, a former astronaut and Navy fighter pilot. They will be joined by Tom Costello, NBC’s lead aviation correspondent.
Additionally, the event will introduce the Dr. Buzz Aldrin Space Advancement Award for the Polaris Dawn Crew, which includes mission commander Jared Isaacman.
In his speech last year, Prince Harry teased Travolta about their mutual connection with his mother, Princess Diana, fondly recalling an iconic dance the actor shared with her in 1985.
“I was one year old when you danced with my mom,” Harry joked. “If we’re not going to dance together, we’ll fly together.”
