College Football Playoff Rankings Projection 2024

As the college football season progresses, the projected College Football Playoff (CFP) rankings are taking shape. With the inaugural 12-team playoff format set to debut this season, several teams have emerged as strong contenders for the top spots.

Oregon, under the leadership of Coach Dan Lanning, has risen to the top of the projections. The Ducks, now considered the best team in the Big Ten, have shown no signs of slowing down after their shutout win at Purdue. They are set to host No. 20 Illinois this Saturday, a game that will be closely watched as Oregon aims to maintain its undefeated record.

Georgia, led by Coach Kirby Smart, has also made a significant impact after their 30-15 victory over Texas. Despite being labeled as underdogs, the Bulldogs’ defense, including players like Jalon Walker and Mykel Williams, has been formidable. Georgia’s performance has solidified their position as anticipated SEC champions.

Clemson, with quarterback Cade Klubnik at the helm, is another strong contender. The Tigers have been scoring points at will, thanks in part to an overhauled group of pass-catchers and a much-improved Antonio Williams. Clemson’s recent 48-31 win over Virginia has kept them in the running for the ACC championship.

BYU, competing in the Big 12, has continued its winning streak with a dramatic comeback victory over Oklahoma State. The Cougars’ ability to win in different ways has kept them as a favorite to win the Big 12, and they are now preparing to face UCF in a crucial matchup.

Ohio State, despite a loss to Oregon, remains in the picture for an at-large selection. The Buckeyes’ resume, which includes wins over unbeaten Penn State and Indiana, keeps them in contention. Their upcoming games, including a pivotal matchup against Penn State, will be crucial in determining their final standing.

Miami, with its unblemished record, is also in the mix. The Hurricanes have won three consecutive one-possession games, with quarterback Cam Ward standing out as a key player. However, their narrow victories have raised some questions about their ranking.

Indiana, following a significant win over Nebraska, has replaced Iowa State in the projected rankings. The Hoosiers’ offensive pace and explosive plays have made them a formidable opponent, and they are now on the path to potentially securing an at-large playoff bid.

Texas A&M and LSU are among the SEC teams still in control of their destiny. The Aggies will face LSU in a critical game this weekend, with both teams aiming to remain unbeaten in conference play.

The first official CFP rankings are set to be released on November 5, and these projections provide a glimpse into what the playoff landscape might look like as the season enters its final stretch.
