Protests Erupt in Nottingham Following Unrest

Published

On Saturday afternoon, the streets of Nottingham were buzzing with activity as two groups of protesters gathered near the famous Brian Clough statue on King Street.

Nottinghamshire Police were present in large numbers to maintain peace, forming a barrier between the opposing sides to prevent any clashes.

The protests started around 1 PM when anti-racism supporters and other local groups began making speeches at the statue. Just an hour later, another group known as the so-called patriots started to assemble nearby.

As tensions escalated, people from both sides began throwing items at each other. Eyewitnesses reported that eggs, plastic, and glass bottles were tossed mostly towards the anti-racism campaigners.

Due to the unrest, several shops and businesses decided to close their doors for safety, while the rest of the city center remained largely unaffected by the protests.

These demonstrations are part of a larger wave of protests occurring across various cities in the UK, sparked by the recent Southport stabbings that took place earlier in the week.
