Providence’s Trevor Connelly Signs NHL Contract with Golden Knights

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Trevor Connelly, a freshman forward for the Providence Friars, has signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the NHL’s Vegas Golden Knights. The announcement was made on April 1, 2025, following his impactful freshman season.
Connelly, who was selected 19th overall in the first round of the 2024 NHL Draft by Vegas, had a standout year with Providence. In just 23 games during the 2024-25 season, the Tustin, California, native recorded 13 points, contributing four goals and nine assists. His performance peaked on November 9, 2024, when he achieved a career-high five points in a thrilling 6-5 overtime victory against Northeastern, including the game-winning goal.
“It’s an incredible opportunity for me, and I’m grateful to the coaching staff and my teammates at Providence for their support,” said Connelly during the signing announcement. “This is a dream come true.”
In addition to his collegiate performance, Connelly earned a gold medal with the U.S. team at the 2025 World Junior Championship, where he tallied four points, including a goal and three assists over seven games in the tournament.
Connelly’s signing adds depth to the Golden Knights’ roster as they continue to build a competitive team in the NHL.
