PSG Faces Strasbourg as Players Return from Injury

Paris, France – Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) begins a crucial seven-match stretch tonight against Strasbourg at 8:45 PM (local time). The match marks the start of a new cycle before the upcoming international break, with the team eager to move past the injuries that have affected their early season.
PSG will host Strasbourg before facing Bayern Munich in the Champions League on November 4 and a trip to Lyon on November 9. Coach Luis Enrique described the match against Strasbourg as one of the toughest challenges the team faces this month.
“We start with one of the most difficult matches,” Enrique stated, praising the work of Strasbourg’s coach Liam Rosenior and his squad’s organization and pressing style. With an average player age of 20.9, Strasbourg shares a similar playing philosophy with PSG.
Injuries have plagued PSG this season, affecting star players like Ousmane Dembélé and Désiré Doué. However, Doué has been included in the squad for tonight’s match, and several other key players are expected to return following the international break.
According to the club’s medical update, João Neves, Fabian Ruiz, and Marquinhos will not participate against Strasbourg. While Marquinhos had shown signs of recovery, the coaching staff opted for caution regarding his return.
“We need to see them on the field and talk to them to know their feeling,” Enrique said regarding Doué and Marquinhos. “But the fact that they are back is good news.”
Despite the injuries, PSG has demonstrated resilience, performing well in recent matches, including a notable win against Barcelona. The coach emphasized that player health remains paramount, more so than concerns regarding availability for the national team.
“Injuries are part of high-level sport with multifactorial causes,” Enrique remarked. “We have to learn to live with them.” PSG looks forward to leveraging its depth as it confronts the challenges ahead.
