Qpr Secure Vital Victory Over Millwall To Boost Their Relegation Battle

Queens Park Rangers (QPR) revived their fight against relegation with a crucial 2-0 victory over Millwall at Loftus Road. The Moroccan international, Ilias Chair, played a crucial role by scoring the opening goal and setting up Sinclair Armstrong for the second. This triumph ended QPR’s winless streak of eight games and moved them up to 22nd place in the Championship.

QPR, led by head coach Marti Cifuentes, started the game strongly, with Chair having an early attempt saved by Millwall’s goalkeeper Matija Sarkic. But the QPR playmaker didn’t have to wait long to put his team in the lead. Chair capitalized on Chris Willock’s cross to find the back of the net and secure his third goal of the season.

QPR continued to dominate the game, with Willock and Lyndon Dykes coming close to extending their team’s advantage before the halftime whistle. Millwall had their chances too, but leading scorer Kevin Nisbet failed to hit the target.

After the break, QPR maintained their attacking intent, with Dykes testing Sarkic once again. The home side’s defense was also crucial in preserving their lead, notably full-back Reggie Cannon, who cleared the ball off the line to deny Millwall an equalizer.

The nerves of QPR fans were finally eased in the 85th minute when Chair assisted Jack Colback, but it was Sinclair Armstrong who pounced on the rebound and scored his first league goal since August.

Despite the loss, Millwall remains in 18th place, eight points clear of QPR. Millwall’s head coach, Joe Edwards, expressed his disappointment in his team’s performance, stating that they did not deserve anything from the match.

Cifuentes praised his players for their outstanding performance, particularly highlighting the contributions of Steve Cook, Jake Clarke-Salter, Sam Field, and Lyndon Dykes in their respective roles throughout the game.
