Cooper Rush Quarterback Signing Contract

BALTIMORE, Md. — Free agent quarterback Cooper Rush has reached an agreement on a two-year contract with the Baltimore Ravens, sources confirmed to ESPN on Sunday. The deal is valued at up to $12.2 million, including $4.2 million guaranteed.

With this contract, Rush is set to become the Ravens’ new backup quarterback. In his previous role with the Dallas Cowboys, he proved to be a valuable asset, recording a 9-5 record in the absence of starting quarterback Dak Prescott.

In the 2024 season, Rush achieved career highs with 1,844 passing yards and 12 touchdowns, stepping in effectively after Prescott suffered a season-ending injury—a complete avulsion of his right hamstring. Despite not being known for flashy plays, Rush has consistently demonstrated reliability and a knack for minimizing mistakes, as evidenced by his five interceptions last season.

Originally signing with the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent in 2017 after attending Central Michigan University, Rush spent three seasons as Prescott’s backup. His journey included a release during Mike McCarthy‘s initial year with the team in 2020, only to be re-signed following Prescott’s serious ankle injury.

Throughout his career, Rush has thrown for a total of 3,463 yards, accumulating 20 touchdowns against 10 interceptions across 38 games. His experience and performance in high-pressure situations make him a solid addition to the Ravens’ roster.

ESPN’s Todd Archer contributed to this report, providing additional insights into Rush’s signing.
