Quinton de Kock Sets Record for Most Runs in a T20 World Cup Edition for South Africa
South African cricketer Quinton de Kock achieved a significant milestone during the T20 World Cup 2024 final against India in Barbados. De Kock surpassed Jacques Kallis to become the player with the highest runs in a single T20 World Cup edition for South Africa.
Formerly held by Kallis with 238 runs in the 2009 World Cup in England, de Kock’s exceptional performance in the ongoing tournament propelled him to the top of the list with a total of 243 runs.
The left-handed wicketkeeper-batsman’s consistency with the bat throughout the T20 World Cup has not gone unnoticed, as he now holds the record for the most runs scored by a South African player in a single T20 World Cup edition.
This achievement places de Kock in the elite company of top South African batters in T20 World Cup history, showcasing his prowess and form on the international stage.
Prior to de Kock’s outstanding performance, the likes of JP Duminy, AB de Villiers, and Hashim Amla had also made significant contributions with the bat in previous World Cup editions for South Africa.
