Radio 1‘s Big Weekend hosted a thrilling competition titled ‘The Showdown’, which captivated listeners with a high-stakes hunt for tickets to the festival held in Luton‘s Stockwood Park. The week-long challenge was kicked off by Greg James, the popular Radio 1 Breakfast Show host.

With all tickets already sold out, the only chance to attend rested on a daily ticket hunt revealing a mysterious Radio 1 presenter’s secret location.

Day one saw Melvin Odoom emerge as the mysterious voice behind the ticket-seeking adventure, challenging listeners to find him in the vicinity of Stockwood Park for a chance to win coveted Big Weekend tickets.

The competition heated up as clues from various artists and presenters guided listeners on the search, leading to the discovery of each hidden DJ in locations like Bedfordshire University and the Luton Hoo Hotel.

The gameplay took a twist with ‘split or steal’ decisions, adding an intense layer of strategy and suspense as contestants had to choose between sharing the tickets or taking them all for themselves.

Each day unfolded new mysteries and challenges as Rickie Haywood-Williams, Danni Diston, Ore Olukoga, and Charlie Hedges took their turns to be found, each hinting at cryptic locations and testing the wit of the audience.

The culmination of this pulse-pounding treasure hunt at Whipsnade Zoo brought out the competitive spirit as the final contestants, Sally and Stacey, faced the ultimate split-or-steal dilemma, ending the showdown with a dramatic finish.
