Raiders Eye Russell Wilson as Steelers Face QB Uncertainty

LAS VEGAS, Nev. — The Las Vegas Raiders are reportedly considering Russell Wilson as their starting quarterback for the 2025 NFL season, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. Wilson, a pending free agent, could reunite with former Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll, who recently joined the Raiders. Meanwhile, the Pittsburgh Steelers face uncertainty at quarterback with both Wilson and Justin Fields entering free agency.

Wilson and Carroll previously worked together for 10 seasons with the Seahawks, culminating in a Super Bowl victory. “Wilson is a strong option in Las Vegas,” Rapoport tweeted, noting the close relationship between the quarterback and Carroll. The Raiders, under Carroll’s leadership, are prioritizing immediate success. “We want to win now,” Carroll said during his introductory press conference. “Culture is the players, and it all starts with competition.”

In Pittsburgh, head coach Mike Tomlin has kept all options open regarding the quarterback position. “There’s a lot of work ahead of us,” Tomlin said at his season-ending press conference. “We need to understand our options in free agency and the draft before making decisions.” The Steelers could draft a quarterback or pursue one in free agency if Wilson departs, leaving Fields’ future with the team uncertain.
