Las Vegas Raiders Cornerback Jaire Alexander Trade

Las Vegas, NV – The Las Vegas Raiders are in urgent need of secondary reinforcements following the departure of key players like Tre’von Moehrig and Nate Hobbs. With the NFL Draft approaching, speculation is growing about possible trades, particularly for Green Bay Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander.

According to Pro Football Focus analyst Thomas Valentine, the Raiders should consider trading their No. 68 draft pick to acquire Alexander, who recorded a 78.3 coverage grade in 2024, ranking 10th among cornerbacks. Valentine emphasized the Raiders’ pressing need for strong cornerback talent, stating, “The Raiders desperately need cornerback reinforcements.”

Currently, the projected starters for the Raiders, Jakorian Bennett and Decamerion Richardson, have not performed well, with neither earning a PFF grade above 60.0. Although the Raiders recently signed Eric Stokes, their cornerback situation remains critical as they prepare for the draft.

Valentine argues that trading for Alexander, a two-time Pro Bowler, is a straightforward way to enhance the team’s defense. “His status with the Packers is uncertain, and two third-round picks might convince them to let go of such a talented player,” he added.

Alexander’s career has been clouded by injuries, missing 34 games in the last four seasons. His health issues are concerning, raising questions about whether he can be the reliable asset the Raiders need. According to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky, team sources have expressed frustration over Alexander’s inability to play through injuries.

While the trade discussion makes sense on paper given the Raiders’ needs, the potential baggage that could come with Alexander has left some analysts skeptical. With new leadership in Las Vegas, it remains to be seen if they will pursue a star cornerback who comes with injury issues.
