Queen's Park Vs Raith Rovers Football

Queen's Park Football Club has announced the rescheduling of their upcoming William Hill Championship match against Raith Rovers. Initially set for Saturday, December 21, the game will now be played on the preceding Friday, December 20. The fixture adjustment comes following a request from the Scottish Football Association (SFA) to facilitate another sporting event at Hampden Park.

The SFA’s request stems from the need to host the Glasgow Warriors versus Edinburgh Rugby 1872 Cup match—a fixture experiencing a surge in popularity. Last year’s second leg drew a record attendance of nearly 38,000 spectators at Murrayfield. The relocation of the football match aims to accommodate the growing interest in the rugby clash.

In a statement, Queen’s Park Club President Graeme Shields expressed the club’s appreciation for the SFA’s support in procuring Hampden Park for their fixtures. “We appreciate the assistance we receive from the Scottish FA in allowing our games to be staged at Hampden Park and do understand that this switch will not be convenient for everyone,” Shields stated.

Shields further emphasized the club’s commitment to flexibility as part of their arrangement with the SFA. “Our arrangement with the Scottish FA includes an understanding that both sides will be flexible when there is a requirement to do so concerning the fixture calendar. This amendment is evidence of one of these occasions,” he noted.

The revised match between Queen’s Park and Raith Rovers will kick off at 7:45 PM. Both clubs, along with the Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL), have agreed to the schedule change to facilitate the SFA’s request.
