Rami Malek’s ‘The Amateur’ Now Streaming for Home Viewing

LOS ANGELES, CA — The thriller film ‘The Amateur,’ starring Rami Malek and Rachel Brosnahan, is now available for streaming. Based on Robert Littell‘s novel, the film follows Malek, who plays a talented CIA decoder named Charlie Heller. After his wife Sarah (played by Brosnahan) is murdered in a terrorist attack in London, Charlie becomes a vigilante seeking justice.
Directed by James Hawe, ‘The Amateur’ also features Laurence Fishburne as Hendo, Charlie’s mentor, who guides him through the perilous journey of uncovering the truth behind Sarah’s death. The film has been well-received, with Digital Spy calling it a “gripping” experience.
The cast includes notable actors such as Caitríona Balfe, Jon Bernthal, and Michael Stuhlbarg, adding depth to the compelling story. Julianne Nicholson plays CIA Director Samantha O’Brien, with Holt McCallany portraying Charlie’s superior, Alex Moore.
This new adaptation is a fresh take on a story that was previously made into a 1981 film. Notably, Marthe Keller, who starred in the original film, makes a cameo in the 2025 version as a florist in Paris.
‘The Amateur’ can be rented or purchased through various digital retailers, including Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV. Fans of the genre are encouraged to check it out as it unfolds a tale of betrayal and revenge.
