Pittsburgh Wide Receiver Konata Mumpfield

VAN NUYS, Calif. – The Los Angeles Rams have selected wide receiver Konata Mumpfield from the University of Pittsburgh with the 242nd overall pick in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft. Mumpfield, who led the Panthers in receiving yards last season, caught 52 passes for 813 yards and five touchdowns, earning All-ACC honorable mention honors.

Despite transferring from Akron, Mumpfield made a significant impact at Pittsburgh, accumulating 154 catches for 1,940 yards and 11 touchdowns over three seasons. His versatile skills include the ability to align both inside and outside as a receiver, making him a valuable addition to the Rams’ roster.

Mumpfield is expected to join fellow receivers Davante Adams, Puka Nacua, Tutu Atwell, and Jordan Whittington. Though many speculated the Rams would prioritize a receiver earlier in the draft, the team opted to select Mumpfield with their final pick instead.

“Mumpfield is known as a crafty route runner and brings competitive urgency to the field,” said Rams general manager Les Snead. His performance at the Shrine Bowl earlier this spring highlighted his potential. While he may not immediately compete for a top-three spot on the depth chart, he will be pushing players like Xavier Smith and Quintez Cephus for playing time.

During his college career, Mumpfield faced pressures both on and off the field. The Georgia native spoke about the importance of staying calm under stress, attributing his resilience to his military upbringing. His father, a U.S. Army officer, moved the family frequently, helping Mumpfield adapt to various environments.

“I don’t really stress a lot of things. I always just try to give my fate to God. I put the work in during the week and then I just give it to God,” Mumpfield said during Pittsburgh’s pro day last month.

Overall, Mumpfield’s adaptability and experience at differing colleges may serve him well in the NFL, where change is common. As the Rams aim to enhance their receiving corps, Mumpfield’s experience and skills provide a promising avenue for future success.
