LOS ANGELES, CA — The Los Angeles Rams have secured offensive tackle Alaric Jackson with a three-year contract worth $57 million, including $35 million guaranteed, according to ESPN sources. This agreement, reached on February 28, reaffirms Jackson’s role in protecting quarterback Matthew Stafford amidst offseason roster changes.

Jackson, 26, started 14 games for the Rams in the 2024 season, though he faced a challenging year with a suspension for the first two games due to a violation of the NFL‘s personal conduct policy. Despite these setbacks, he ended the season ranked 20th among offensive tackles, posting a pass-blocking grade of 79.2 according to Pro Football Focus.

Originally signed as an undrafted free agent in 2021, Jackson has participated in 41 games, with 35 starts over his four-year career. His signing comes at a crucial moment as he was poised to be one of the top free agents in the upcoming market.

Rams head coach Sean McVay expressed the team’s intent to maintain continuity with Stafford at quarterback, highlighting that establishing a strong offensive line is vital for their Super Bowl aspirations. McVay stated, “There is no dispute… about anybody wanting him to be our quarterback,” emphasizing the complex balancing act of roster decisions following Stafford’s contract negotiations.

Stafford, who completed 65.8 percent of his passes for 3,762 yards during the last season, is approaching the milestone of 60,000 career passing yards. This deal not only ensures stability on the offensive line but also sets the Rams up to build a competitive roster leading into the 2025 season.

As the offseason develops, Jackson’s continued presence alongside Stafford is expected to bolster the Rams’ contention for a championship, filling a critical role in an organization looking to leverage past successes for future victories.
