Rams Grant Guard Jonah Jackson Permission to Seek Trade

LOS ANGELES — The Los Angeles Rams have granted guard Jonah Jackson permission to seek a trade, sources confirmed to ESPN‘s Jeremy Fowler on Wednesday.
Jackson, who signed a three-year, $51 million contract in March 2024, had a challenging season, playing in only four games last year. He is set to receive an $8.5 million guarantee on March 14, according to the Roster Management System.
The 25-year-old guard faced significant setbacks after injuring his shoulder during training camp. Although he returned at the beginning of the regular season, Jackson aggravated the injury in Week 2 and was subsequently placed on injured reserve. He managed to play one game following his return from IR but found himself benched for the remainder of the season.
In his end-of-season news conference, Rams head coach Sean McVay expressed his gratitude towards Jackson for handling the challenging circumstances with professionalism. “I really appreciate Jonah on how he handled [the situation],” McVay said. “A starting-level player … there are a lot of teams that would love to have Jonah Jackson at guard. … He put the team first in terms of just showing up, going to work, and being a really good ‘scout teamer.’”
According to OvertheCap.com, if the Rams trade Jackson before June 1, they will incur an $11.3 million dead money hit. Jackson is also slated to earn a $9 million base salary in 2025.
Selected in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft, Jackson was a Pro Bowl selection in 2021 and spent the first four seasons of his career with the Detroit Lions before joining the Rams.
