Rams Select Ty Hamilton in Fifth Round of 2025 NFL Draft

VAN NUYS, Calif. – The Los Angeles Rams traded up to the 148th overall pick in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft to select defensive lineman Ty Hamilton from Ohio State on April 26.
The 6-foot-3, 299-pound Hamilton compiled impressive stats during his college career, totaling 116 tackles, 8 sacks, and 14 tackles for loss over four seasons with the Buckeyes. Last season marked a personal best for Hamilton, who recorded 51 tackles, 3.5 sacks, and 6 tackles for loss, earning All-Big Ten honorable mention honors in 2023 and 2024.
“I’m thrilled to be joining the Rams and can’t wait to get to work,” Hamilton said after his selection. “I look forward to contributing to this talented defensive line.”
This marks the eleventh Ohio State player selected in the 2025 draft, and Hamilton is the fourth Buckeye to be picked on Day 3. His previous two years showcased his growth as a powerful run stopper, although scouts expressed interest in seeing improvements in his pass-rushing skills.
In college, Hamilton often faced double teams, which freed up teammates for tackles. His standout performance included crucial moments, like stopping Penn State on a goal-line stand in a tight game.
Hamilton will be joining a Rams defensive line that features edge rusher Braden Fiske and tackles Poona Ford and Kobie Turner. He is expected to compete for backup roles alongside other defensive players.
Prior to the draft, Hamilton demonstrated strength at Ohio State’s Pro Day, completing 35 reps in the bench press and timing a 4.95 second 40-yard dash.
