Rangers Eye Strong 2025 Season with Revamped Roster and Key Starters

ARLINGTON, Texas — The Texas Rangers are gearing up for the 2025 MLB season, armed with a fortified roster and a promising starting rotation. After a disappointing 2024 season, the Rangers are determined to reclaim their spot in the postseason.
Their starting rotation, a potential strength for the upcoming season, depends heavily on improved health and performance. As of now, the Rangers have all key contributors healthy, including Nathan Eovaldi and Jacob deGrom, both expected to headline the pitching staff.
Eovaldi, who re-signed with Texas this winter for three years and $75 million, is likely to take the No. 2 spot in the rotation. “Retaining Eovaldi was a priority for this offseason,” a team source noted. “He has shown resilience and capability, which we need as we head into a competitive season.”
Meanwhile, DeGrom, who has struggled with injuries since joining the team, provides a significant boost if he can stay healthy. After undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2022, he made only nine starts over the last two seasons. “His presence on the mound makes a difference for our entire rotation,” the source added.
Tylor Mahle is also recovering well from his injuries and is expected to play a crucial role alongside Eovaldi and DeGrom. Jon Gray and top prospect Jack Leiter will round out the rotation. “There’s a lot of potential in this group, but we must manage their innings effectively,” the source cautioned.
One standout player is Jack Leiter, who was the No. 3 pick in the 2022 MLB Draft. Following a complex journey, including shoulder surgery and a stint in the independent league, Leiter made his major league debut in September 2024. He posted solid numbers, compiling a 3.86 ERA in 11.2 innings across three appearances.
<p“His potential is off the charts,” remarked a scout who ranked him 35th in the latest prospect rankings. “However, recovering from previous surgeries complicates expectations. It’s rare for pitchers to regain their full effectiveness after such challenges.”
Along with the pitching staff, the Rangers bolstered their lineup by acquiring Jake Burger and signing Joc Pederson to enhance their offensive capabilities. These moves target specific weaknesses from last season, especially the designated hitter position that struggled significantly.
The infusion of talent has created optimism around Arlington as the Rangers look to bounce back and improve their 78-win record from 2024. With established stars such as Corey Seager, Marcus Semien, and Adolis Garcia still performing at a high level, the team aims to re-establish its competitiveness. “We believe this roster can contend for a playoff spot,” commented Chris Young, president of baseball operations.
Looking ahead, the Rangers are prepared to face a long, grueling season. If the team’s key pitchers can stay healthy and live up to their potential, Texas is poised to emerge as a serious contender in the American League next season.
