Ravens Dominate Steelers in AFC Wild Card Showdown
The Baltimore Ravens defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers 7-0 in a hard-fought AFC Wild Card game Saturday night at M&T Bank Stadium. Lamar Jackson led the Ravens with a 15-yard touchdown pass to Rashod Bateman, capping a 95-yard opening drive that set the tone for the game.
The Ravens’ defense was equally dominant, holding the Steelers to minimal offensive production. Pittsburgh struggled to move the ball, with quarterback Russell Wilson and backup Justin Fields unable to generate momentum. The Steelers’ offense managed only one first down in their opening drive, and a botched punt return further compounded their woes.
Baltimore’s Derrick Henry, in his first playoff appearance with the Ravens, rushed for 49 yards on the opening drive, including a 34-yard burst that put the Ravens in scoring position. Henry, who joined Baltimore in the offseason after eight seasons with the Tennessee Titans, has been a key factor in the Ravens’ success this season, rushing for 1,921 yards and 16 touchdowns during the regular season.
The Steelers entered the game on a four-game losing streak, including a narrow 19-17 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 18. Despite splitting their regular-season series with the Ravens, Pittsburgh was unable to overcome Baltimore’s momentum. The Ravens, winners of four straight to close the season, have now advanced to the next round of the playoffs.
Jackson, who has historically struggled against the Steelers, silenced critics with a composed performance. He completed 3 of 4 passes for 31 yards and rushed five times for 22 yards on the opening drive. The Ravens’ defense, which allowed just 43 points over their final four regular-season games, continued its stellar play, stifling Pittsburgh’s offense throughout the night.
The game was broadcast exclusively on Amazon Prime Video, with Al Michaels and Kirk Herbstreit providing commentary. The Ravens will now await their next opponent as they continue their quest for a Super Bowl title.
