Ravens Secure Ronnie Stanley with $60 Million Contract Extension

OWINGS MILLS, Md. — The Baltimore Ravens have signed left tackle Ronnie Stanley to a three-year contract extension worth $60 million, the team announced Saturday. The deal, reached just days before the official start of NFL free agency, reinforces the offense’s blind side ahead of the upcoming season.
Stanley, a two-time Pro Bowl selection, is coming off a strong season in which he participated in all regular-season games for the first time in his career. Last season, he demonstrated his significance to the Ravens, contributing to the team’s No. 1-ranked offense.
“I’m grateful to remain in Baltimore, where I’ve spent my entire career,” Stanley said. “Blocking for [Lamar] Jackson and the rest of the team has been a privilege, and I look forward to continuing our success.”
The contract averages $20 million per year, securing Stanley’s position among the highest-paid left tackles in the NFL. The Ravens’ General Manager Eric DeCosta expressed relief in retaining Stanley, emphasizing the player’s leadership and skillset as vital for the team.
“Ronnie’s resilience and performance last season show not only his ability on the field but also his dedication to our organization,” DeCosta said at the announcement. “We are excited to have him for the next three years.”
Stanley was projected to attract significant interest from other teams, including the New England Patriots, Kansas City Chiefs, and Washington Commanders, if he entered free agency. However, the Ravens acted quickly, locking him down to continue protecting Jackson’s blind side.
A pivotal component of the offensive line, Stanley had a standout performance last season, ranking 12th in pass block win rate at 92.5 percent. He allowed only three sacks and demonstrated his elite blocking skills that helped the Ravens maintain a robust offensive front.
Originally selected as the No. 6 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, Stanley faced several injury challenges earlier in his career. He missed significant time with ankle, knee, and shoulder injuries since signing a $98.75 million contract in 2020 but rebounded impressively last season.
“This deal signifies our trust in Ronnie to keep improving his game and lead our offensive line,” said head coach John Harbaugh. “His experience and performance under pressure will be essential as we look to make a deep run this season.”
The signing comes amid speculation about the broader roster changes the Ravens may pursue this offseason. With Stanley’s commitment secured, general management can concentrate on filling other pressing areas, including the possible replacement of left guard Patrick Mekari, who is facing free agency.
The Ravens’ offensive line will now feature returning Pro Bowl players, including center Tyler Linderbaum, right guard Daniel Faalele, and right tackle Roger Rosengarten. The presence of Stanley is expected to maintain continuity and stability as the team moves into the critical offseason phase.
Analysts note that with Stanley’s extension concluded before free agency officially opens, the Ravens are positioned well to strategize further additions while ensuring their left tackle situation remains solid.
