Ravens Sign Linebacker Jake Hummel to One-Year Contract

BALTIMORE, Md. — The Baltimore Ravens have signed linebacker Jake Hummel to a one-year contract, reinforcing their roster as they prepare for the upcoming NFL season. The signing was confirmed on March 12, 2025.
Hummel, a 26-year-old linebacker, spent the previous two seasons with the Los Angeles Rams. Originally signed as an undrafted free agent out of Iowa State, Hummel joined the Rams following the 2022 NFL Draft. In his most recent season, Hummel appeared in all 17 games, making one start and contributing 17 total tackles.
His role on special teams has been particularly notable, as he played 77% of the Rams’ special teams snaps in 2024 and 80% in 2023. The Ravens, having lost two key special teams players, Malik Harrison and Chris Board, in free agency, aim to bolster their special teams unit with Hummel.
“We’re excited to bring Jake on board,” Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta said in a statement. “He has proven himself effective on special teams, and we believe he can add depth to our linebacker corps. His work ethic and competitive spirit will fit well with our team.”
Hummel’s signing is a strategic move for the Ravens as they navigate roster changes after reaching the AFC Divisional Round last season. The team is looking to address gaps left by departing players while maintaining competitiveness in the league.
As Hummel integrates into the Ravens’ system, fans will be watching closely to see how he performs in his new role. His ability to contribute on special teams will be crucial in shaping the team’s success moving forward.
