HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. — The second round of the 2025 RBC Heritage kicks off Friday morning at Harbour Town Golf Links, with a prize purse of $20 million on the line. Defending champion Scottie Scheffler, ranked World No. 1, looks to improve on his opening round score of 64, setting the stage for an exciting day of golf.
In the first round, Justin Thomas took center stage, tying the course record with a remarkable 61. He leads the tournament by three shots, with Scheffler and Russell Henley in hot pursuit. “It’s always great to get off to a strong start, but there’s still a long way to go,” Thomas said after his stellar performance.
The excitement continues Friday as Golf Channel broadcasts the second round, starting at 2 p.m. ET. Early coverage, as well as featured group streaming, will be available on Peacock starting at 7:15 a.m. ET. NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports App will offer a live simulcast of Golf Channel’s coverage for viewers with an active cable subscription.
Tee times for notable players begin at 8 a.m. ET with Karl Vilips and Rickie Fowler, followed by several other groups throughout the morning. “The course is playing really well, and the weather looks perfect,” added Scheffler in anticipation of the second round. “I think we will see some low scores again tomorrow.”
This event marks the 17th of the PGA Tour’s 2025 schedule, featuring a total of 72 golfers with no cut this week. With competition heating up at Harbour Town, the players aim for key FedEx Cup points and the coveted plaid jacket.
The RBC Heritage has a storied history of showcasing premier golfing talent, with past champions including Matt Fitzpatrick and Jordan Spieth, both of whom performed admirably in the first round.
As the tournament unfolds, all eyes will be on the leaderboard to see if Thomas can extend his lead or if players like Scheffler and Henley can mount a challenge to claim victory.
