Real Madrid Aims to Bounce Back Against Getafe in La Liga Clash
Real Madrid is set to host Getafe in a crucial La Liga match on Sunday, December 1, at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu. Following a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League, Real Madrid is eager to regain momentum in the domestic league. The match kicks off at 10:15 AM ET / 7:15 AM PT and will be available to stream on ESPN+ and ESPN Deportes in the United States.
Real Madrid’s recent form in La Liga has been more encouraging, with dominant wins over Leganés and Osasuna in their last two league outings. This has helped them cut FC Barcelona‘s lead at the top of the table to just four points, with Real Madrid also having a game in hand. However, injuries continue to plague Carlo Ancelotti‘s squad, with key players like Vinícius Jr., Eduardo Camavinga, Eder Militão, Dani Carvajal, and David Alaba unavailable for selection.
Despite these injuries, Real Madrid is expected to field a strong lineup. Lucas Vázquez is set to return to the starting XI at right-back, allowing Federico Valverde to resume his role in midfield alongside Luka Modrić and Jude Bellingham. The attack will feature Kylian Mbappé, flanked by Arda Güler and Brahim Díaz, although the absence of Vinícius Jr. will be felt.
Getafe, currently 15th in the La Liga standings with only two wins in 14 games, will face significant challenges. They will be without key players due to injury and suspension, including Carles Aleñá, Borja Mayoral, Djene Dakonam, and Bertug Yıldırım. Alvaro Rodríguez, on loan from Real Madrid, is expected to lead the line for Getafe in a 4-5-1 formation.
Despite Getafe’s recent wins over Real Valladolid and Manises CF, their away form in La Liga has been poor, and they are yet to secure an away victory this season. Real Madrid, however, holds a dominant record against Getafe, having won the last five meetings between the two teams.
The match is crucial for Real Madrid as they aim to close the gap with FC Barcelona to just one point, given Barcelona’s shock defeat to Las Palmas. A win for Real Madrid would keep them firmly in the title race and provide some respite after their European disappointment.
