Real Madrid Verbal Agreement with Bayern Munich for Alphonso Davies Transfer
Real Madrid and Bayern Munich have reportedly reached a verbal agreement for the transfer of left-back Alphonso Davies to the Spanish club either in 2024 or 2025.
The negotiations have been ongoing between the two clubs, spearheaded by chief scout Juni Calafat and director general Jose Angel Sanchez, who have been in talks with Davies’ representatives to facilitate the move.
Meetings, including a recent one in Madrid in mid-February, have helped progress the discussions, with Real Madrid urging Davies not to renew his contract with Bayern that is set to expire in 2025.
There are two potential scenarios being considered – a transfer for a reduced fee this summer similar to Toni Kroos‘ move in 2014, or a free transfer when Davies’ contract runs out, akin to David Alaba’s move to Madrid in 2021.
While Liverpool and other English clubs have shown interest, Davies’ preference is currently a move to Real Madrid.
Bayern Munich have yet to open negotiations with the player’s camp, holding out hope for a contract extension, but are prepared to sell Davies this summer if an agreement cannot be reached.
The Canadian international has made 180 appearances for Bayern since his move from Vancouver Whitecaps in 2019, winning multiple Bundesliga titles and a Champions League trophy in 2020.
Davies has featured 27 times for Bayern this season, contributing with one goal and three assists.
