Record Demand as Dodgers’ World Series Tickets Sell Out Rapidly
Tickets for the Los Angeles Dodgers‘ potential home games in the World Series went on sale Thursday morning and quickly sold out, despite the hefty $800 initial price tag for all four projected games at Dodger Stadium. Within hours, buyers discovered the only remaining options on the resale market were significantly marked up, with the cheapest entry starting at $1,081 as of Friday afternoon. These seats are located in the upper deck, just right of the right field foul pole.
The resale prices for seats behind the outfield now range from $1,392 to $1,733, while premium seats directly behind home plate have soared to a staggering $15,000 to $20,000. Notably, the Dodgers did not publicize the sale through traditional advertisements or announcements. Instead, they reached out via email to previous ticket buyers and through social media platforms.
According to the Dodgers’ official website, any tickets purchased with the intent to resell are subject to cancellation and a refund. Currently, the Dodgers lead the New York Mets 3-1 in the National League Championship Series. A victory at Citi Field would see them progress to face either the Yankees or the Guardians in the coveted World Series. As of the latest standings, the Yankees lead their series against the Guardians 2-1. A Yankees-Dodgers matchup would introduce their first World Series clash since 1981.
Tickets for previous World Series games have shown sharp price escalations. Last year, the cheapest standing-room-only ticket for Game 1 between the Texas Rangers and Arizona Diamondbacks was priced at $451, with sitting options starting at $774. Should the Dodgers not make it to the World Series, refunds will be processed for all sold tickets.
