Red Sox Crush Blue Jays 10-2 with Bregman’s Home Run

TORONTO — The Boston Red Sox dominated the Toronto Blue Jays 10-2 on Tuesday, showcasing an offensive explosion led by newcomer Alex Bregman. In his first season with the Red Sox, Bregman hit a solo home run in the first inning, marking his sixth of the season and contributing to a strong performance that improved his batting average to .331.
Red Sox manager Alex Cora praised Bregman’s abilities, stating, “He’s a complete hitter. He understands what he needs to do to be successful, and so far so good.” Bregman had a standout day at the plate, going 3-for-5.
His impact reaches beyond personal stats, as teammate Garrett Crochet noted Bregman’s unique approach in handling challenging counts. “Something that he does is to be totally OK with giving the other pitcher a free strike and then still put together a quality at-bat about every time,” said Crochet. This skill has proved valuable, helping to shift the momentum during critical moments of games.
In the first inning, Bregman managed to take advantage of a mistake by Blue Jays starter Bowden Francis, who left a splitter hanging. Bregman launched it over the left-field line. This was part of a trend for the Red Sox, who managed to hit five home runs total during the game, including two from Bregman and Jarren Duran.
The Red Sox now have 12 homers in their last five games, hitting a total of 38 home runs this season. Early in the year, the Red Sox struggled with a high strikeout rate. Recently, however, they have improved their two-strike approach, lowering their strikeout rate to 19 percent in their past 12 games while averaging 6.1 runs per game.
Bregman commented on the improvement, noting, “I think our two-strike approach is constantly improving. Earlier in the year, guys were swinging out of the strike zone.”
While Boston’s offense stole the spotlight, starting pitcher Crochet also contributed significantly, allowing only two runs over seven innings, improving his record to 3-2 and maintaining a 2.05 ERA this season. Despite allowing a two-run homer to Vlad Guerrero Jr., Crochet was largely effective.
The win marked a significant moment for the Red Sox as they climb back to a record of 17-14. The team seems to be finding its rhythm, igniting optimism for fans and players alike. “That was sick,” said Crochet, reflecting on the game. “I think it just shows what we’re capable of.”
