Red Sox Guardians Baseball Game

CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Boston Red Sox will look to take the series against the Cleveland Guardians on Sunday at 1:40 p.m. at Progressive Field. Starting for the Red Sox will be right-hander Brayan Bello, who is making his second start of the season after recovering from a right shoulder strain.

Bello’s season debut was against the Seattle Mariners, where he pitched five innings, giving up four hits and two walks while allowing a first-inning solo home run. He struck out six during that outing, throwing 97 pitches in a Red Sox victory. “It was huge for me to be able to keep the team competing,” Bello said. “A very good moment for me to be back.”

The Guardians will counter with left-hander Logan Allen, who has a record of 1-1 and an ERA of 2.11. Both teams have struggled against each other’s starting pitchers, with the Red Sox hitters combining for just 15 at-bats against Allen and the Guardians managing only four at-bats against Bello.

The Red Sox lineup for the game will include Jarren Duran in left field, Rafael Devers as the designated hitter, and Alex Bregman at third base, among others. Garcia has been performing well lately; he is batting .364 in his last five games.

Notably, the Guardians have lost two of their last three games after winning five in a row and currently hold an 8-3 record at home, where they have yet to drop a series this season. The Red Sox have a 15-14 record and are looking to gain momentum after their recent performances.

After today’s game, the Red Sox will have a day off on Monday before heading to Toronto for a three-game series on Tuesday. Bello’s performance will be critical for Boston as they aim to keep their playoff hopes alive.
