Red Sox Face Streaking Royals After Impressive Shutout Win

Kansas City, MO — The Boston Red Sox will begin a crucial six-game road trip tonight, starting with a three-game series against the Kansas City Royals at 7:40 p.m.
After an impressive 5-0 victory against the Texas Rangers at Fenway Park on Thursday, the Red Sox are looking to maintain their momentum. Pitchers Brayan Bello, Justin Slaten, Garrett Whitlock, and Liam Hendriks formed a formidable bullpen, allowing just five hits and no runs.
The Royals, however, present a tough challenge. They swept the Chicago White Sox in four games, outscoring them 19-4, and have been red-hot recently, winning six straight games. Their offense showed firepower during a 10-0 win on Thursday, highlighted by Bobby Witt Jr.’s four-hit performance and a season-high 17 hits.
“The Sox will need to replicate their recent pitching success as they face a team that’s firing on all cylinders,” said Red Sox manager Alex Cora.
Hunter Dobbins, a right-handed pitcher with a 2-1 record and 3.78 ERA, will start for the Red Sox, while the Royals will counter with RHP Michael Lorenzen, who sits at 3-3 with a 4.23 ERA.
Both teams are eager for victories, with the Red Sox having hit 35 home runs in their last 23 games, tying them with the New York Yankees for the most during that stretch. Notably, the Sox lead the American League with 45 stolen bases and rank third in MLB.
“Our bullpen is versatile, and we pride ourselves on having players who can fill various roles,” Hendriks said of his team’s depth and resilience.
