BOSTON, MA — The Boston Red Sox are not considering moving 20-year-old prospect Roman Anthony to first base, despite ongoing struggles at that position. General Manager Craig Breslow stated that the young outfielder’s development is best served in the outfield.

Fans have speculated that switching positions could accelerate Anthony’s rise to Major League Baseball and help solidify the team’s needs at first base. However, Breslow emphasized that complicating the young player’s development with a positional switch is not in the best interest of the team.

“I think just given [Anthony’s] age, there’s still an opportunity for him to develop in the outfield,” Breslow said. “That’s where he should be focused.”

Anthony, hitting .313 with five home runs and an impressive OPS of 1.039 in Triple-A Worcester, has shown great potential early in the season. He is currently the youngest player in the league, and his statistics have drawn significant attention.

Although the Red Sox face challenges at first base, including underwhelming performances from other players, they are expected to pursue trades or free-agent signings instead of moving Anthony from his primary position. Breslow’s statement reflects the team’s long-term vision for Anthony’s development.

Recently, Anthony also experienced a minor injury scare after fouling a ball off his foot. Fortunately, X-rays showed no serious damage, and he is expected to return to the lineup soon. He had previously missed time due to shoulder inflammation but has since returned to the outfield.

Fans are eagerly awaiting Anthony’s eventual debut in Boston, but the organization is proceeding cautiously to ensure he is fully prepared for the pressures of major league play. This careful approach aims to maximize Anthony’s potential as a future star hitter for the team.
