Red Sox Look to Continue Winning Streak Against Blue Jays

BOSTON, MA — The Boston Red Sox are set to continue their road trip with a three-game series against the Toronto Blue Jays at Rogers Centre starting Tuesday night. The Red Sox aim to build on their two consecutive victories over the Cleveland Guardians.
Left-handed ace Garrett Crochet is scheduled to pitch for Boston, while right-hander Bowden Francis will start for Toronto. The first pitch is slated for 7:07 p.m. ET and will be broadcast live on NESN.
Boston’s recent success came after a rough start to the season. Kristian Campbell played a pivotal role in their last game, going 2-for-2 and generating four runs in a 13-3 win. Manager Alex Cora praised Campbell’s performance, describing it as potentially his best game of the season.
Toronto, however, is struggling after a disappointing 1-5 road trip, including a doubleheader loss to the New York Yankees over the weekend. The Blue Jays failed to capitalize on scoring situations, hitting just 2-for-17 with runners in scoring position during the doubleheader.
Cora expressed that they must maintain strong at-bats against the Blue Jays, especially with their pitching staff performing well. Crochet holds an impressive 1.95 ERA this season but is looking to rebound after a challenging outing against the Seattle Mariners last week.
In his previous start, Crochet allowed four runs and a career-high five walks across five innings, leading to a 4-3 loss. He took personal responsibility for that loss, stating, “The game was the first two innings that I pitched, that was really what lost us the game.”
As for the Red Sox lineup, Wilyer Abreu and Triston Casas will return after sitting out the previous game. The match against the Blue Jays will provide both teams with an opportunity to shift their fortunes.
The Blue Jays hope to turn things around at home, with manager John Schneider emphasizing the need for better offensive execution. “Better at-bats with guys on base and taking advantage of mistakes,” Schneider said. “We know we have the guys who can do it.”
The game is pivotal for both teams as they strive for improvement this season, making for an exciting matchup in Toronto.
